Why does my clarinet have gross buildup on the mouthpiece?

Why does this happen? I know how to clean it but why does it happen? I heard it's just a calcium deposit but why am I the only person in my band class with this problem? Should I eat more calcium or something? All Answers are appreciated! Thanks!
