How long will N. Korea remain the way it is?

North Korea would collapse if the USA and other nations stopped giving them aid. However, these countries do not want North Korea to collapse because if it did it would most likely join with the South and begin a period of build up, this new country could potentially lead to a massive build up in military within Asia which is something the West does not want. They would prefer for them to struggle along on handouts.
